Eyelash Extensions: Things That Your Lash Artist Wants To Tell You

What are the things your lash artist wants you to know? When I start eyelash extensions, I don't know how to deal with my clients yet. What will be the approach to presenting them with my price lists? I am so scared that they might think that I might be charging so much or so little.

How will my clients book their appointment with me, and how do I remind them about it?

Do I need to accept cash payment, bank transfer, or online payment?

These are just some of my dilemmas, and I think most new lash artists can relate to them.

All these things are sorted out as I go along with my lash journey. There are many trials and errors in running my business and what kind of customer service I need to provide for my dear clients.

I learned that certain things need to be followed and be strictly implemented. It helps me manage my business correctly and prevent or lessen untoward incidents in dealing with my clients.

This blog will help both the clients and lash artists understand how things work.

As you have been dying to have your first eyelash extension, you've been searching for the lash artist around your area; there are certain things that you have to remember as a client.

I have listed what you have to remember when you are done looking for your lash artist and already have an appointment. These are the things your lash artist wants to tell you.

1. BE ON TIME FOR YOUR LASH APPOINTMENT

As we all know, time is gold, and we should never forget that your lash artist is running a serious business here. She blocked a specific time for you to be included in her schedule.

Your lash artist will indeed be reminding you ahead of your scheduled day and time regarding your appointment; either she will send you a text message or an email. Please have the courtesy to reply to confirm.

Be in the area at least 5 – 10 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment.

How do I show up to my lash appointment?

2. CLEAN FACE AND NO MAKEUP AT ALL

Most lash artists have their written or virtual policy consent form for you to fill up, and she'll be able to explain the do's and don'ts before, during, and after the appointment. Please make sure to understand everything fully.

One of the policies is to come to your appointment clean, meaning no makeup, no eye shadows, no eyeliners, nothing at all. Clean the face. It'll be easier for your lash artist to work on a clean look.

So what will happen if you come to your appointment with makeup and dirty lashes? Either your lash artist will not continue with the appointment and let you come back for another schedule, or she'll clean it and charge you an extra fee.

If you don't want to be charged extra, then by all means, please clean your face, most especially your lashes.

3. DON'T DRINK ANY CAFFEINE

It is one of the enemies of any lash artist when a client drinks, for example, coffee and their eyes and sometimes body twitching. We wanted you to have the best experience ever while having your first ever eyelash extension, and caffeine will not help you relax for the entire session. Make sure you haven't consumed any caffeinated or energy drinks at least 3 HOURS before your most awaited eyelash extension appointment.

Why can't you drink caffeine before eyelash extensions?

4. BRING YOUR ARTISTIC SIDE

You always seek the help of the internet to know which eyelash extensions stand out, the same as what we do when we want a specific cut on our hair. Make sure to save pictures on your phone, and you can show them to your lash artist. She'll discuss and give you some advice on which curl to use or lashes that she'll be using. Everyone is unique, and your lash artist will be so creative to provide you with the look you deserve.

5. USE THE BATHROOM BEFORE YOUR LASH APPOINTMENT

Aside from not consuming caffeinated beverages, make sure you are not so complete or drink any liquid before the appointment. If not, this will lead you to use the bathroom frequently.

Use the bathroom before your appointment, and you'll have uninterrupted relaxation time while getting your lashes done.

7. NO TALKING DURING YOUR EYELASH EXTENSION APPOINTMENT

As your lash artist, we wanted to catch up with you and have some chit-chat. However, talking to clients will destroy your lash artist, and it will lessen the time to work on your lashes. Make this time to relax while your artist performs her job. I would love to catch up with my client if work has been done and if ever I don't have my next client waiting.

Are you a client who walks around a lot and talks a lot? Now you can see what a lash artist goes through when they move too much. It's difficult to put a lash extension to one of your natural lashes while the client moves about a lot. So try not to talk too much, and perhaps take a nap.

Lash artists stand their ground so that you can apply the lashes correctly and with less stress. Suppose they are talking too much. Ask them kindly how you can make them more comfortable. Explain why it's hard for you to work when they move their eyes and talk. Don't be shy!

8. MOBILE PHONES ON SILENT MODE

Another cause of interruption within the session is when you need to check on your phone, or worst you are talking on the phone while having your lashes done. Use this time to relax for a couple of hours, and for sure, everything else outside the lash room can wait.

9. HAVE PATIENCE

For sure, before booking your appointment, your lash artist already informed you that this would take hours before she'll be able to finish with your lash set. Refrain from asking if she's done yet with the lashes. She'll inform you when it's all done. Anything beautiful takes time to achieve. Do you want a quality and beautiful lash set? Then let them take her time and do her work.

10. NO KIDS ALLOWED OR EXTRA GUEST

With what is happening right, coronavirus and all, it's best to not allow any guests inside the lash room or lash area. It's for safety purposes for both the lash artist and the client.

Before the virus came, I didn't allow any guests, especially kids, to roam around my lash area. It'll sure interrupt my clients.

11. GET AN AFTER-CARE KIT

12. BE SURE TO TIP AND TIP GENEROUSLY

You've just had your eyelash extensions applied, are sitting in the salon chair, and love your new look. You can't thank them enough for your lash extension. How did she well on your lashes? A tip will do so much, and your lash artist will surely appreciate you for showing gratitude to her.

Tips are a way of showing appreciation for services rendered. Tips are not expected but are always appreciated when given. It's an opportunity to show gratitude for a job well done and make the customer feel special.

13. REFER A FRIEND/FAMILY

You can't stop talking about lashes; why not invite your girlfriend or sister to try your newly found BFF lash artist. A referral is another way of showing how much you love your lashes.

These are the unspoken things most lash artists are afraid to inform their clients, especially when they are just starting.
Hopefully, this will help our future clients with these tips and to our lash sisters, make sure that some of the information here should be included in your policy.

Be yourself and be very open to your clients and they'll for sure appreciate you more.

It was helpful when you said that your lash artist had told you ahead of time that it would take her many hours to complete your lash set. Don’t inquire as to whether the lashes are finished. When it’s all done, she will let you know. Any wonderful thing requires patience to achieve. Given that my baby shower is the following month, I would like to have eyelash extensions. Your advice is useful since I truly want to spend money on something that would make me feel gorgeous once again. https://naillounge.com/lashlounge/

I have the opposite problem. Sometimes I just want to relax and be quiet but my lash tech starts asking ME questions. She’s told me in the past that sometimes my eyes flutter when I speak so I’m super confused as to why she continues to talk. How do I tell her I want a silent appointment to relax without sounding rude? She’s become a friend now and I’ve been going to her for 3 years +… I don’t know how to approach it. I’ve even said in the past “oh I’m quite tired from work today. I’m going to try and sleep through this” and she will STILL ask me questions and talk to me about her life. Ugh.
