Adhesive Sensitivity: When to Pause & Refer
Client safety should always come before completing a lash service. During the appointment, regularly ask whether the client feels burning, stinging, itching, or unusual discomfort. Check that eye pads and tape are positioned correctly and are not touching the eye. Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions and keep products away from the skin whenever required.
When discomfort increases, pause the service and assess the situation calmly. Do not ignore the client’s concerns or encourage them to continue. Significant swelling, persistent redness, breathing difficulty, or severe irritation may require professional medical attention. Lash artists should never diagnose or treat medical conditions. Keep notes about the products used and any reaction reported to support safer future appointments.
