Meet our featured lash artist of the week, Ruth Chavez, known on Instagram as @chavezruth_.   Hailing from Mt. Pleasant, TX, she's been honing her craft at Lash Studio 214 Beauty & Training Academy in Tyler, TX for the past 9 months. Struggling with retention at the start, Ruth did her research and experimented with her technique. Remarkably, the game changed for her when she introduced a humidifier into her workspace. She finds her inspiration in the artists who produce flawless sets, those who treat lashes like a canvas, creating beautiful art without yet singling out anyone specific. Ruth aspires to reach the same level of artistry, dreaming of a day when others view her work and see it as a true form of art. Her advice to fellow artists is straightforward: Keep at it. Despite how overused it may sound, practice is the path to perfection. She emphasizes that marketing oneself is just as important as the skill of lashing. It's all about how you present and promote your business. Bianca Andrade, known on social media as @babeautyparlor, is based in Vancouver, Washington.   It's also where she received her training. She's been lashing for 8 months now. When she first started, she struggled with feelings of isolation, which impacted her retention rate with clients. Despite these challenges, Bianca didn't give up. She credits consistent practice for her improvements. Additionally, joining Lash support groups on Facebook played a crucial role in her learning and growth. When asked about her inspiration to become a lash artist, she mentioned that she had always been drawn to lashing. However, it was her best friend Isabelle who truly inspired her to dive into the profession. Isabelle provided the extra push Bianca needed during the early days. Now, the two of them lash side by side. Bianca's motivation in the lash industry stems from her faith in God, the love and support of her family, and the camaraderie she shares with fellow lash technicians. She leaves a piece of advice for future lash artists, those who are struggling, and beginners: "Never compare yourself to anyone else. Everyone has their challenges in their lash careers, but it's essential not to give up!"  Let's shine the spotlight on our #featuredlashartist of the week, Alma Lopez, better known by her handle @amorluxlash. Alma is based out of Houston, Texas, where she also received her lash training. With an impressive tenure of 3 years and 6 months in the lashing industry. Alma recalls her early days when she faced challenges such as mastering isolation, ensuring the lashes were placed correctly, and improving her speed. But with sheer determination and the unwavering support from her sisters and a special friend, who allowed her to practice different sets on them, she overcame those hurdles. She credits her perseverance to her lash tech, a high school friend named Elisa who is also in the lash business. Both have been her pillar of strength, pushing her to excel and not give in to setbacks. What drives her passion for the lash industry is her family and the incredible lash technicians she has met throughout her journey. For those budding lash artists and those facing hurdles, Alma's advice is heartfelt. She encourages, "Don't give up, girls! It might seem challenging at times, but with persistence, practice, and continual learning, it will all be worth it in the end. Remember, each of you is unique, so avoid comparing yourselves to others. Keep doing the remarkable job you're known for." Beginning her journey, she found it challenging to find suitable glue and achieve good retention. A continuous search for better products and a keen eye on glue temperature helped overcome these hurdles. Shantall finds inspiration in @dbrach.beautyspa, and what keeps her motivated in the lash industry is passion. For her, lashing is not just a job, but a genuine passion that brings joy. She advises aspiring lash artists and those facing struggles, "Keep going, never give up. Nothing is easy, but with practice, you got this!"
