This idea of a doll eye lash map uses shorter lashes on the inner corners, longer in the middle and shorter lashes on the outer corners.

To create this look with your lash extension application, you need to use multiple different sizes of lashes when applying them onto the natural lash line. This means you will need short and long lengths to achieve this lash look.

WHY LASH MAPPING IS IMPORTANT?

Learn how to avoid various errors when working with different eye shapes, and lash maps.

This illustration demonstrates why mapping is essential. This client had significantly downturned eyes. 

We did a squirrel mapping on the right, for this client making the eye significantly more downturned than usual, her downturned eyes got emphasized with this type of mapping.

Furthermore, we used 8-15mm D curl lengths, which resulted in a "droopy" aspect and a sad- puppy looking eye. This is a great visual showing how an incorrectly styled lash extension set can emphasize certain unflattering features.

In contrast, on the left eye, we are using a shorter length of 7-12mm, "the doll eye mapping" This sort of mapping elevates the eye by focusing on the middle of the eye and away from the outer corners. This lash mapping improves the visual appearance of the drooping outer corners, by providing a nice lifting effect.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CAT EYE, DOLL EYE AND NATURAL EYE?

The cat eye starts short on the inner corner and is longer on the outer corner. It is suitable for those clients with round eyes since it levels out the contour and gives a seductive appearance. But, clients with upturned or downturned eyes should avoid the cat eye since it can make their eyes look smaller and emphasize the outer corners making them even more downturned.

The doll eye map starts short on the inner corner, longer in the middle, then shorter at the outer corner. It creates a nice open-up look and brightens up the face, ideal for monolid, hooded, and almond eyes.

 

As for the natural eye, the lash extensions are made to match the lengths of the client's natural lashes, with the longest lashes touching the brow arch. A natural eye looks good on everyone, but this isn't the look for your client if she wants a more dramatic look with her lashes.

 

 

Cat Mapping:  Use the longest lashes towards the outside edge of the lashes to create the illusion of wide-set "exotic" eyes. If your client has Almond, close-set eyes, this is an appropriate choice for this client. 

Doll: Applying lash extensions in the same direction as the natural lashes will give you fuller, longer-looking lashes while keeping the natural eyelash pattern. Almond and Upturned Eyes will work perfectly with this mapping.

Squirrel: To achieve this look, start short and gradually lengthen, with the halfway point being the most extended length, before shortening progressively again.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR DOLL EYE MAPPING?

Doll eye lashes are ideal for clients who have smaller eyes, as the lashes will give the illusion of a wider eye. Doll eyes also work well for those with very fine or sparse lashes as they add volume and length without weighing down the client's natural lashes.

Client with almond-shaped eyes: a doll eye look will make their eyes appear more prominent, but if the eyes are close together, avoid this lash style as it may make the eyes seem excessively enormous.

 

Client with hooded eyes or monolids: this lash style is perfect for this type of eyes. It will keep them looking lifted and open.

 

Client with wide-set eyes: doll eyes extensions make their eyes appear larger.

 

 

Contraindications with doll eye mapping

Clients with really round eyes are not the best candidates for the doll eye mapping, since this map style can emphasize the round shape.

Clients with eyes really close together are not ideal candidates, since it can also emphasize the closeness of the client's eyes.

Clients who like a really natural look may also not be the most ideal candidates for this lash map, since it can be on the dramatic side, and is more appropriate for clients that love a very full and dramatic look, especially with volume and mega volume styles. * A doll map classic set, in shorter lengths can still look fairly natural with this type of lash map.

HOW TO CREATE A DOLL EYE LASH MAP?

Doll eyelashes are a popular choice for lash extensions. This look is very natural and soft but still very glamorous. The doll eyelash map aims to make sure the natural lashes have a uniform appearance and the look of having a doll eye putting the most amount of emphasis in the middle of the eye.

 

STEP #1 

Create 5 sections. Eyelash extensions come in various lengths in each section. You can use the eye patches to map out your set. (Shorter lengths on the inner, longer lengths on the middle and shorter lengths on the outer)

 

STEP #2

Start from the inner corner of your client's eye and use the shorter extensions to fill in the space.

The extensions will gradually lengthen until they reach the center of the eye. (You can use 8 to 12mm lengths). 
If your client wants longer lashes, you can use longer lengths or shorter lengths if your client wants a more natural set.

 

STEP #3

The final section is essential for a clean lash set. You can use the same lash lengths as in the inner corner. The transition should be seamless, so the lash line appears completely natural.

CC LASH CURL

The CC curl is a hybrid between the C and D curls, offering a delightful mix of both. It provides a balanced, eye-opening effect that appeals to a wide range of clients, making it a versatile choice for lash artists.

 

D LASH CURL
