If you're in doubt, just stick to the map!
We are not talking about the kind of map that takes you from point A to point B, we're talking about maps found in the lash world...
The Lash Maps!
Lash mapping are a form of under-eye pad that is applied to the client's eyes. It aids the lash artist in determining the length of lash extensions to use and creating a lash set that complements the features and eye shape of the client.
On this blog, we will discuss why is lash mapping important for lash artists, also lash mapping styles but before that, let's get to know what you need for lash mapping.
This is the simple part, all you'll need are some eye pads and a pen.
Simply place them on top of the eye pad and use the sections as a guide to make pretty lashes. You can draw on the desired lengths prior to your client's arrival for added ease, and then select the sticker you need when you're ready.
PRO TIP: Before the appointment, ask the client to give you a photo of their eyes so you can check out their eye shape.
LASH MAPPING STYLES
You can then pick your lash map once you've determined your client's eye shape. There are several lash types to choose from, we've included a few lash maps examples below:
Cat: use the longest lashes towards the outside edge of the lashes to create the illusion of wide-set "exotic" eyes. Almond, close-set, and round eyes are all good choices.
Round: Applying lash extensions in the same direction as the natural lashes will give you fuller, longer-looking lashes while keeping the natural eyelash pattern. Almond and Upturned Eyes Suits for this style.
Squirrel: To achieve this look, start short and gradually lengthen, with the halfway point being the longest length, before gradually shortening again. Almond, Close-set, Downturned, Monolid, Hooded, Protruding, and Round eyes are all good choices.
Dolly: Establish the illusion of wide, open eyes by using longer lashes in the midsection of the lashes. Almond and wide-set eyes go well together.
Kim K: One of the most common lash styles is Kim K. To achieve the Kim K look, spikes or the longer lengths are placed in different parts of the eye to produce a wispy set. Round and Almond eyes are both perfect for this lash style.
