REGULAR UNDER EYE PATCHES

The benefit is actually they are really easy to work with, they are really thin, so it's going to be very easy to access the inner corners and it’s comfortable for clients.

The downside of these general patches is that they’re only good for clients that have a regular standard eye shape and for anything a little bit more complicated eye shape.

The other issue that comes in is for clients that have pretty coarse lower lashes, these eye patches have a tendency to move and they’re not going to stay in place.

HYDRO-GEL UNDER EYE PATCHES

The good aspect about these eyelash patches is that you can actually work with clients that have fairly thick under lashes and in terms of shape they are versatile.

For clients that have really unruly lower lashes where you have to reapply them every 15 to 20 minutes, this kind of under-eye patch is perfect to use!

Sometimes, it is harder to reach the inner corners with the lash patches so what you can do is to adjust by cutting them out. Cut the shape out to make it fit on your client, or just have different shapes on hand available, most companies now offer various shapes for eye patches. When your client comes in you can easily pick the shape that works for their particular eye shape.

MICRO FOAM UNDER EYE PATCHES

The last patch that we're going to talk about is the microfoam under-eye patches. So what is really cool about these is the fact that they are made from microfoam.

These are the thickest patches available on the market. They are going to be much thicker and there are the best for clients who have really coarse under lashes, it will stay in place, no moving like the other types of lash patches.

Keep in mind that these patches are not to be used on every single client that you are going to have. You really want to use them on clients that you have troubled with applying the gel patches. Also, it is ideal to use for clients who are allergic to collagen, gel, and hydrogel patches.

It is important to ensure that you apply them properly but not only that, if the clients have no issues with patches and they have regular eye shape, no need to use the microfoam patches.

HOW DO YOU APPLY EYE PATCHES FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

STEP #1 ENSURE YOUR CLIENT’S EYES ARE CLEANED ( PRE-APPLICATION )

Clean and dry the client's eye area with lash foam shampoo, which has a mild cleansing solution that eliminates eye makeup and impurities from the lashes, especially if the client has oily skin, because the lashes will not stick properly.

STEP #2 ENSURE THAT YOUR CLIENT IS LOOKING UP STRAIGHT

To isolate the layers of your client’s lashes when working with lash extension patches, make sure they are looking straight up (not backward) and not talking. This will ensure that your client is comfortable and that the patches do not move.

STEP #3 AVOID GETTING TOO CLOSE TO THE WATERLINE

One of the most difficult things to achieve is keeping the lashes down while keeping them away from the client's eye. Maintain a minimum spacing of 2-3mm between the pads and the client's waterline.

STEP #4 MAKE SURE THAT THE LASH PATCHES ARE PROPERLY SECURE ( IF NEEDED )

Apply two strips of micropore tape (about an inch and a half long) down the lash line to keep any additional lashes down.

Ask if your client feels any pinching or discomfort when they close their eyes. Then, with their eyes closed, gently tug on the tape and eye pads to adjust them.

LASH PATCHES APPLICATION MISTAKES AND SOLUTIONS

PUTTING THE UNDER-EYE PATCHES TOO HIGH SO THAT THEY DON’T TOUCH THE CONJUNCTIVAL

You need to see the growth of the client’s lashes, you want to make sure that you’re not patching too high but you also want to make sure that you're not putting the patches too low because if you put it too low you’re going to have the issues of lower lashes popping out and need to constantly readjust the patches to avoid gluing the upper lashes to the lower lashes.

APPLYING THE PATCHES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SERVICE AND THINK THAT’S IT

You need to check the eyelash patches every 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the clients (if they're talking). Because if they're talking their face is moving and the patches are going to move as well, what’s going to happen is you may need to change them more frequently.
