WHAT IS A LASH STICKIE?
First things first, let's understand what we're dealing with. A "lash stickie" is when one eyelash extension sticks to a neighboring lash. Not only is it a bit unprofessional on our part, but it can also be super uncomfortable for the client. Imagine having your lashes pulling on each other every time you blink—ouch!

WHAT MAKES IT HAPPEN?
Ever done a set of lash extensions and then found out that some extensions are sticking to the the other lashes? That's what we call "lash stickies," and they can make your client feel uncomfortable. So why do lash stickies happen in the first place? Here are some common factors that contribute to this issue:

Slower Dry Time
If you're working with an adhesive that has a slower drying time, there's a higher chances of lashes sticking together during the application. Ensuring that you're using an adhesive with an appropriate drying speed can help prevent this problem.
Low Humidity
Humidity levels play a crucial role in lash extension applications. In environments with low humidity, the adhesive might not cure as expected, leading to lash stickies. Maintaining optimal humidity levels in your workspace is essential.
Working on One Eye at a Time
Focusing on one eye at a time might seem like an efficient approach, but it can contribute to lash stickies. As you work on one eye, the adhesive on the lashes of the other eye can continue to cure, increasing the chances of lashes sticking together.
To ensure a seamless lash extension application process, consider implementing these preventive measures:
Proper Isolation
Thoroughly isolate each natural lash before applying the extension. This step is crucial to prevent lashes from sticking together. Take your time and double-check your isolation work.
Appropriate Adhesive Amount
Avoid using excessive adhesive. Applying too much adhesive can lead to stickies. Apply an appropriate amount to ensure a secure bond without excess glue.
Adhesive Dry Time
Allow the adhesive to dry properly before moving on to the next lash. This will minimize the risk of lashes adhering to each other. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for drying time.
These images illustrates a lash application mistake known as "stickies," resulting from inadequate isolation. It shows two lash extensions, identified as Lash extension #1 and Lash extension #2, mistakenly glued together.
This error underscores the need for precise isolation during the lash extension process to prevent multiple lashes from sticking together, which can lead to discomfort and potential damage to the natural lashes.

HOW TO PREVENT LASH STICKIES?

Triple-Check Your Work
Don't rush; take a moment to double or even triple-check each set. You might find a rogue stickie hiding in there. Remove it carefully with a pair of tweezers or a lash brush.
Mind the Climate
Keep an eye on the room’s humidity. If it's too dry, consider using a humidifier to create the perfect adhesive-friendly environment.
Speed Isn't Everything
Yes, time is money, but rushing through an appointment increases the risk of stickies. Slow down and let each adhesive drop dry completely before moving on to the next lash.
Perfect Your Technique
Practice makes perfect. Work on your isolation technique to make sure each natural lash is completely separated before applying an extension.
Right Amount of Adhesive
This is a Goldilocks situation—you need just the right amount of adhesive. Too much, and you've got stickies; too little, and the extensions won't hold.

HOW TO UNCLUMP LASH EXTENSIONS?
If you already have a sticky situation, don't panic. Use a pair of fine-tip tweezers to gently separate the stuck lashes. You can also use a lash brush for minor stickies. Remember, go slow and be gentle.

PRO TIP: If you find that the extensions are sticking to the bottom lashes, you might need to reposition your under-eye gel patches or tape. Make sure they fully cover the bottom lashes and keep them separate from the top lashes you're working on.
