In this blog, let me give you some lash tips and tricks on how to make it easier to work with the corners and how to lash difficult lashes.

4 PRO LASH TIPS FOR LASHING INNER CORNERS

LASH TIP #1 USE A CURVED TWEEZER

A dolphin tweezer works really well (C-type tweezer or a 45-degree angle tweezer) because it's going to be much easier to angle that tweezer and get into those inner corners.

LASH TIP #2 USE SHORT LASHES

Make sure that you’re using short lashes. Inner corners will typically be 3mm to 5mm (client natural lashes). It means that you shouldn't place heavy lashes in the inner corners because you don't want to overload those lashes, they’re usually weaker and fragile. I recommend you use 5mm to 7mm for the inner corners.

LASH TIP #3 USE FLATTER LASH CURLS FOR THE INNER CORNER

Don't use D curl, L curl, M curl, or any of those really strong curls for inner corners because it will end up poking the client and it will give them an uncomfortable feeling.

You really want to make the sets look as seamless and natural as possible. So what you want to do is to ensure you use a curl that is fairly flat and soft. B curl works really well for inner corners.

LASH TIP #4 USE A TAPING TECHNIQUE

The taping technique is really good to visualize the inner corner. It’s going to be easier to isolate and also you're going to be able to see what you're doing.

LASH EXTENSIONS OUTER CORNERS

LASH TIP #1

The lashes on the outer eye tend to stick so I recommend allowing extensions to dry isolated a bit longer to avoid any unwanted sticking.

LASH TIP #2

Because the natural lashes on the outer eye are thinner and shorter, use a lighter lash fan or lash to help with retention.

LASH TIP #3

I recommend you use narrow lash fans instead of wide for the outer part of the client’s lashes. If the fans are too wide there will be a few lashes that will look out of place.

HOW TO HIDE LASH EXTENSION GAPS?

The first thing that you want to do is make sure to assess your client’s natural lashes and it's really important to actually write it down in their client card (you should always have a clients directory with all client’s lashes)

For clients that have really thin and brittle lashes, you're going to make sure that you have some lower diameters and shorter sizes available for those clients. The 0.03, 0.05 are the most appropriate and avoid anything heavy on their lashes that are really weak and brittle.

So there's a couple of different things that you can do to deal with gaps (depending on how big the gap is)

TECHNIQUE #1

If it's about 3mm to 4mm, you can use fans to cover it. You can use 6D everywhere and on the lashes that are on the side of the gaps, you can use 10D. The 10D fans will surely cover the gap/hole and it's going to make it seem as if the gap is not really existed but this is only possible if your client has a fairly small gap.

TECHNIQUE #2

If it's a really big gap, I recommend using the bridging technique (I'm sure you already heard this kind of technique or if you haven’t it's a really good technique)

If it’s about 4mm or 5mm, putting fans larger like mega volume fans will not cover the gap entirely. So I recommend you take a classic lash, usually 0.15 or 0.18 works really well, but I prefer 0.18 because you want to be fairly thick in diameter. The fan will hold long to it. Put the classic lash, perpendicularly to their natural lashes that are growing straight.

After that, you can put the 6D fans to cover the entire gap (the gluing area is going to be on the lash that you have glued that is going perpendicularly)

TECHNIQUE #3

In the worst possible case where the gap is actually noticeable and bigger, and the clients insist on having lash extensions and after you assess that it is safe for them to have lashes, so let's say the gap is 8mm. The most advanced lash technique you can do is putting 2 classic lashes, perpendicularly to their natural lashes that are growing straight.

Connect them with adhesive (do the exact thing with technique #2). Put the 6D everywhere and put the fans on the gap. Glue the lash fans on the second lash. The first lash will help to make sure that it is secure.
