5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Becoming A Lash Tech
What should a beginner lash tech know? What makes a good lash artist? Is lashing hard work?
Becoming a lash technician might sound simple enough, but it's quite the learning curve. It takes years of experience and a lot of practice to get good. Wouldn't you hate spending tons of money on your education only to get into the industry and learn about things that would have made your life much easier?

Just like any other job, there are things that you don't know until you do it. Some of these things are obvious, but others are not so.
It's not all glitz and glamour! But it is so much more rewarding than you could ever imagine! I will share with you some things I wish others had told me before I became a lash tech!
Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Lash Wisps Mixed Lengths, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Super Bonder, Mini Lash Mirror, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.
WHEN YOU FIRST START, PEOPLE MIGHT BE A LITTLE ROUGH ON YOU
Whether you are a beginner lash artist in the industry or have been working for years, this is true. When beginning as a lash artist, there will be times when people will say things like, "that's not how I was trained", or "I don't know how to do that." And while some of those comments may be valid and helpful, sometimes they aren't.
Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.
This can be discouraging and frustrating, but it also teaches you what not to do as a lash tech. You must understand that everyone starts somewhere and that doing so is acceptable. Finding the correct clientele base and putting in enough effort will ensure that people recognize your skill level.

THE BEST WAY TO LEARN AS A LASH ARTIST IS TO DO
But sometimes, you must endure growing pains. When you start as a lash technician, people might be rough on you, especially if they're unhappy with their lashes. The best option is to ask questions and practice before your next appointment. Also, remember that it's not just about the lashes — it's about the experience for your client. If they feel good when they leave the room, then you did your job well!
Color Lashes, Pro-made Fans, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.
That said, don't be afraid to ask questions! There are many different ways to do things in this industry; finding what works best for you and your lash clients is the key.. It helps if you have a mentor or someone who has been doing this longer than you have (but don't worry if that's not an option). Learning from others is one of the best ways to learn!
So before you even open your business doors, take some time to practice on friends or family members who won't mind if their eyes look like spider legs for a few days (and who will also give you honest feedback).
No one is perfect when they start. They're not going to expect you to be a pro right away. Learning is best done on your own and getting feedback from others.

YOU WILL PROBABLY GET BURNED. ATLEAST ONCE!
The first thing someone usually learns about being a lash artist is that it can be very tiring. Lashes take time to apply, and each person is different in how long it takes them to get their lashes done. This suggests that you must work with multiple clients once to be a successful lash technician.
At first look, this might be fine, but when you are trying to learn how to become a lash tech while doing other things simultaneously, finding enough time in your day can be challenging!
Color Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.
If you think being an eyelash tech is all fun and games, then you're wrong! This job can be highly stressful, especially when you need more clients or money. To keep doing what you love, taking care of yourself is essential.

DON'T FOCUS ON THE MONEY FIRST…FOCUS ON BUILDING YOUR CLIENTELE AND SKILLS
This is the most important thing I wish I had known before becoming a lash tech. When you first start, people will come in because they want to try something new and different.
But as time goes on, they will want more volume and length…and that takes practice! You can't expect someone who has never had lashes before to come in every week and get their lashes done by someone who has only been doing this for a few months. It doesn't work like that. If you want to grow your clients and earn money as a lash technician, then focus on building relationships with your clients first. Build trust and rapport with them, so when they want something more than just volume or length added, they will come back to you without hesitation because they know you are qualified.
Lashes, Glitter Galaxy Collection, Color Lashes, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.
You can begin earning money right away. However, the bad thing about it is that you will only have experience once you start working as an assistant or full time technician.

YOUR LASH CLIENTS MAY COME AND GO, BUT YOUR REGULARS WILL ALWAYS BE THERE
If you're considering becoming a lash tech, you know what it takes to get there. You see the education, techniques, and tools required for the job. But there are also some things that only experience can teach you — like how to deal with demanding clients and keep your work area sanitary. While new clients are exciting, keeping your regulars happy is essential too. They'll become friends over time, and they'll be more likely to refer their friends if they like your work.
Lash Wisps, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape, Lash Extension Medical Tape, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder and Ultra Crystal Bond are used in this set. To shop, please click here.

CONCLUSION
It's hard work, but it's worth it. Making sure you are prepared to invest the time and effort necessary to learn how to do them right is the only thing I advise. Before you become good at something, it takes a lot of practice and errors. However, once you master them, you'll like doing them.
