As a lash artist, one of the most important skills you can have is creating natural-looking lash extensions for your clients. While some clients may prefer a more dramatic, voluminous look, many others are looking for a subtle enhancement that looks and feels like their natural lashes. Here are some tips for creating natural-looking lash extensions that your clients will love.

In this blog, I will give you the basics that you need to know if your client wants a natural look and how you can achieve it.

You first need to know that not every client wants a dramatic and glamourous lash look like volume lashes. We must know how to create and achieve a natural-looking lash if a client asks for it.

CONSULTATION AND ASSESSMENT

Begin by conducting a thorough consultation with your client to understand their desired outcome and preferences. Assess their eye shape, lash length, and density to determine the most suitable lash extension options. Discuss their lifestyle, maintenance expectations, and any specific concerns they may have. This consultation will serve as the foundation for achieving natural-looking results tailored to their individual needs.

THE BASICS OF VERY NATURAL-LOOKING EYELASH EXTENSIONS

Whether your client prefers a natural look, consider a few things before each lash appointment.

LASH CURL

D and C curls are not suitable for a natural look. Both lash curls are only ideal if you want to lift or dramatize your client's lashes.

Consider starting with the B Curl lash extensions for a more natural look. If the lash extensions are curlier than the natural lashes, they may appear unnatural.

DIAMETER

Use a natural diameter if possible. Match the extension's diameter to your client's natural lash diameter. The natural lashes aren't particularly thick.

The thickness of the lash extension is another important factor to consider when aiming for a natural look. For clients with thinner, more delicate natural lashes, consider using a thinner lash extension, such as a 0.10 or 0.15mm. For clients with thicker, stronger natural lashes, a slightly thicker lash extension, such as a 0.20mm, may be more appropriate.

Lash Diameter

PRO TIP: If your clients have thick lashes, they are only about.15 mm in diameter. Do not use .18 mm and .20 mm, or anything wider.

LASH LENGTH

When selecting the length of lash extensions for your clients, it's important to consider their natural lash length and eye shape. For a natural look, opt for lashes that are no more than 2mm longer than the client's natural lashes. This will help to create a subtle, enhanced look without looking overdone or fake.

PAY ATTENTION TO PLACEMENT

Proper placement of the lash extensions is key to achieving a natural look. Be sure to isolate each natural lash and apply the extension at the correct angle and distance from the eyelid. This will help to create a seamless, natural-looking lash line.
