Everything You Need to Know About Premade Lash Fans

What are premade fan lashes? What is the difference between PreMade and ProMade lashes?

Premade lash fans can be suitable for beginners. Use lash fans for volume sets to save time and improve your technique. You can easily control how much glue you apply to the fan and manage to save time.

If you're pressed on time (you don't want to use handmade fans) and have a client who wants volume set efficiently, then a set of pre-made fans is ideal for you. Heat bond fan sets will give similar results as custom fans while cutting down the time required to complete your set.

In this blog, you will learn all the secrets of premade fan lash extensions but first, let me discuss what premade fans are.

WHAT ARE PREMADE LASH FANS?

A V-shaped fan is composed of numerous lashes attached (on the base). The quantity of lashes in a lash fan determines how fluffy and large the fan will be and how the finished lash set will look. There are a variety of premade lashes on the market today.

Premade fans are created the same way as handmade volume lashes, except a machine is utilized to help. A row of thin PBT threads is usually set on a lash tray, with the bases either heat-bonded or glued with a small amount of adhesive.

Once the base adhesion is complete, the threads can be coiled into the desired curl and heat-processed to keep the lash curl. The finished product is placed in a tray and attached to an adhesive strip, like individual lash extensions.

PREMADE VOLUME FANS VS HANDMADE FANS

Premade fans may be an ideal approach for lash artists who don't do volume lash sets every day or are new to volume to complete a volume lash set in half the time.

Premade fans have gone a long way since they first hit the market; back then, they had bulky, thick bases and were extremely heavy, thanks to unnecessary adhesives.

Even the most experienced lash artists nowadays have trouble distinguishing between premade and handmade fans. It is because today's modern premade fans have fragile bases.

Promade fans are 100% handmade. They can be made by a lash artist before the client's appointment and stored for use during the session. Alternatively, you can get promade fans from different lash brands.

Handmade or promade fans take a long time to master, and if you're an experienced lash artist, it may only take a second or two to create a handmade fan.

How do you tell the difference between cluster lashes and premade fans?

cluster lashes vs premade lash fans

Another thing to remember is that premade fans and cluster lashes are not the same things. Clusters have thick bases, making isolation on natural lashes extremely difficult.

Cluster lashes are made for clients to apply to their lashes at home ( DIY style ). A lash artist does not typically apply these lashes. These lashes are not for long-term wear, they are to wear for a night or day, and then it's advisable to remove them, to avoid damaging the natural lashes.

WHEN AND WHY USE PREMADE LASH FANS?

You might love or dislike premade fans, but keep in mind that the market is changing, and so also you. Now is the time to consider your clients.

You've undoubtedly invested a lot of time and money into learning advanced volume techniques, numerous ways to make volume fans, or complicated styles.

Maybe your client is tired, pregnant, or doesn't have time to stay in a  lash bed or recliner for three or more hours while creating our volume set.

So why don't we offer the client something that will help her get through her treatment faster? Remember that satisfied clients equals happy clients.

Another thing to keep in mind is that time equals money, and using premade fans can help you save both. Using premade fans will allow you to complete tasks that you would otherwise be unable to achieve or simply spend time with your family.

If you can give your client the same result in a shorter time, that's a plus. You should seriously consider increasing your prices. I know, we know, and you know that there are a lot of clients who will gladly spend more if they can get the same effect in a shorter amount of time.
On the other hand, using premade fans does not imply that you are no longer skilled. Cleaning, priming, isolating, or using the glue, are still necessary.

We understand that after finishing many Russian volume courses, the availability of premade fans on the market can be a little frustrating. Try to think of it as something that will improve your lash game rather than something that will worsen it. Premade fans save you one step; you'll still need to know everything.

PREMADE LASH FANS: LASHING IN LAYERS

Although using premade fans will save you time, there are a few things to keep in mind: dealing with layers.

Premade Fans

Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Straight Isolation Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.

The most straightforward technique to work with layers is to place the longer lashes on the bottom layer, one size shorter on the middle layer, and one size short on the top layer. As a result, the client will have a beautiful dark lashline when your client opens her eyes.

You can use a simple eyelash extension taping trick to assist you with layers. To make the bottom layer visible:

  • Tape the lashes up.
  • After you've finished lashing the bottom, take out another layer of lashes with a tweezer, lashes layer, and repeat the process.
  • Remove another layer of natural lashes with the tweezers.

In this way, you'll be sure to work correctly, layer by layer, while keeping the size in mind.

When isolating, always use very pointed tweezers and take your time. Keep your isolation tweezer in place for a second after applying a premade fan to ensure that the adhesive has thoroughly dried before removing it.

Even the most skilled lash artists may encounter a few stickies throughout their work, so we should always spend 7-12 minutes at the end of the lash set checking for stickies.

REMEMBER: Check for stickies and maintain your client's natural lash health.

HOW DO YOU USE PREMADE FANS?

The amount of lash adhesive used and the placement of the fans are crucial for successful bonding. The fan can be attached to the natural lashes from top or bottom. The base of the lash should be dipped in glue for at least 2mm, and the longer the extension, the longer the base of the lash should be. You'll be able to assure exact alignment this way.

When it comes to the attachment point, make sure the entire base is flat against the natural lash. You won't get a flawless attachment if it's popping up or crisscrossing. The distance should be no more than 1mm when you're a newbie. If you're an experienced lash artist, we recommend using half of a millimeter as the distance from the eyelid.

Please remember, as I'm sure you already know, that lashes should never be attached to the skin because this might result in a severe allergic reaction or just irritation.

When dipping the fan in the adhesive, scoop it upwards slightly. You'll have enough glue to wrap around the natural lash nicely this way. The incorrect way to dip the premade fan into the bond is to do it in fast motion, which results in a small bubble of glue and insufficient adhesive to attach the fan.

To get the fan, open your tweezer and grab the middle of the fan so that you don't destroy it when you pick it up, grip it and peel it towards yourself. The incorrect way of picking up the fan is too high, not strong enough grip, or squeezing too much.

PRE-TREATMENT

It's critical to spend time pre-treating your client's lash extensions to ensure that they last and retain their shape. The first thing to remember is that if your clients come to the appointment with some makeup, you can do a lash bath using a lash foam shampoo to remove any oils or dust around the lash line.

After successfully removing all the makeup, now is the time to prep the lashes when the client is lying down. Make sure all the eye area is spotless.

The purpose of lash primer is to prepare the lashes before applying the eyelash extensions.

Best lash primer

Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches and Incredible Retention Primer for Eyelash Extension are used in this set. To shop, please click here.

HOW TO USE IT

  • You can apply the lash primer directly onto the natural lashes using a lip-gloss brush before applying the lash extensions. It removes protein deposits and oil build-up on the natural lashes, which can cause blepharitis, and prepares the natural lashes to hold the lash extensions better.
  • Whether your client uses eye makeup, oil and protein build-up may occur throughout the day. It is essential to cleanse and prime the natural lashes before applying lash extensions.
  • Lash Primer is incredibly gentle on the eyes and does not cause any irritation when applied to the natural lashes and skin.
  • Wait for the product to dry on the natural lashes before applying lash extensions.

CONCLUSION

Using premade fans does not eliminate the need for basic knowledge about the lash application; we must still ensure that we apply the eyelash extensions safely, without any stickies or excess glue.

When you deal with premade fans, you're working with lashes that fan out a little more than when you're working with classic lashes. As a result, it's even more essential that you take some time to check for stickies.
