Lash adhesives are incredibly finicky and are greatly affected by external elements such as heat and oxygen. Here is some advice on how you can ensure your adhesive stays as fresh as possible to avoid any issues.
1. Stock up on adhesives in advance
You can keep them unopened in the fridge for 6 months. Plan ahead, especially for the summer months, the last thing you want is for your adhesive to sit in the heat in your mailbox. This can greatly damage the adhesive. You can ensure to be home when it’s delivered, but things never go as planned, and the last thing you want is for your adhesive to be ruined when you have a week full of appointments.
2. Store in the refrigerator
If you refrigerate, your adhesive to preserve it, ensure that the temperature is not lower than 10 degrees C/50 degrees F. Store in a closed package with a silica gel pack.
It is advisable to store your unopened lash adhesive bottles in the fridge, ideally, you should write down the date on the bottle, in order to avoid leaving it in the fridge for too long. Normally lash adhesives that are not opened can stay in the fridge for 8 months.
3. Store in an airtight container
So what makes the adhesive vault so unique? Most of the air in the jar is squeezed out through the small opening when the user closes the cap, so the bottle is vacuum-sealed. Then the external air pressure will be greater than the inside. This impressive technology utilizes negative air pressure in order to keep the adhesive without any air or moisture.
As soon as the adhesive is exposed to oxygen by opening, it will begin to break down. To delay this process as much as possible, store upright in an airtight container or bag (we love our Thousandlashes Adhesive Vault. It is a good rule of thumb to put the date on the adhesive container once you put it into the adhesive vault, you don’t want to mix up which container you opened first.
The container also has enough room for silica packets, in order to absorb extra moisture.
4. Throw away your adhesive after 4 weeks
Following these steps will keep your adhesive as fresh as possible for up to 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, discard any remaining adhesive and open a fresh bottle for optimum results.
